Amnesty

SellitSAFE.com periodically receives information from the underground through our Amnesty program. Many people in the underground actually do want to help consumers and e-commerce. We do everything legally possible to allow them to come from the dark side to the light side.

If you do send in information, we will protect your identity. The information that is of interest to us is; a breach of security, consumers personal information (PII), or a new scam. We do require proof, and of course we will verify all information.
Who supplies this information? Usually it comes from "ethical hackers". Do we trust "ethical hackers"? No, in fact we trust no one. But we do trust the information if it comes from a consistently reliable source and is verifiable. These so called "grey hats" have supplied us with some very interesting and helpful data over the years. And we're grateful if it can be used to help consumers and merchants.
We also receive information from employees of Merchants. Their conscience prevents them from obeying management and burying the hack.

If you have any information concerning data security breaches or you would like to provide credit card data that you know has been compromised to SellitSAFE.com please email us directly at confidentialinfo@SellitSAFE.com all information submitted is confidential.
If SellitSAFE.com contacts you regarding a "breach of security", and the breach is on a large scale, we may request that we speak only with the CEO. This may be needed to avoid a "conflict of interest" with the respective IT staff.
If you have lost any amount of data, it is recommended you follow these "best practices" regarding the hack.

Merchant Best Practices

erify the information actually has been lost. (if possible)

  • Do not modify, delete, or backup anything within your system. Power-down the system safely, leaving the crime scene intact. This gives the security company a chance to detect the flaw.
  • Check with State and Federal disclosure laws to insure complete and current compliance.
  • Issue a press release about the breach.
  • Immediately inform any parties or customers who may have been affected by the breach via electronic and postal mail. (SellitSAFE.com) has experience with the notification process and can aid in bridging the gap from merchant to customer)
  • Hire a security company to review all company systems. CLICK HERE for more information on site safety to see if you are at risk of a hack and to see if your company is compliant
